Missing fishermen found; mother praises God

(file photo)Two fishermen from the Kalinago Territory, who were reported missing at sea for over a week, have been found.Ian Joseph and Walters Joseph of Gaulette River were found and rescued by a cruise ship off the coast of Aruba.During an interview with Dominica Vibes on Thursday 17 March, Ian’s mother Roselyn Fontaine said that she received the news on Wednesday March 16th at about 8pm.Fontaine praises God for the rescue of her son. “I am extremely happy about it. I give God all the praises for everything he has done for me. From the time I got the message that he was lost at sea I started praying to God, because he alone that could do it for us.”Fontainr said she prayed for strength every day and ask God to strengthen herself and her son. “I was very worried about him because he is my first son,” she added.Fontaine said when she sees her son she will hug and kiss him.“I will talk to him and ask him to give his life to God, because its God who had him in his hands that’s why today he is alive.”She advised women who have sons that are fishermen, to speak with their sons and ensure that they are well-equipped. “Before they leave, ask God for protection and guidance because out there is not land, there are no trees and no branches”.The men are said to be in good health and should return to Dominica in the next two to three days, according to Ms. Fontaine.Ian Joseph and Walters Joseph of Gaulette River left Guadeloupe en route to Dominica on Tuesday 8 March 2016 when they encountered engine trouble while out at sea.
