first_img The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete in the 2019 U SPORTS championships this Saturday, November 9 in Kingston, Ont.The women’s 8km race begins at 1 p.m., with the men’s 10km race set for 2 p.m., at Fort Henry. Both races will be streamed on USPORTS.liveToronto will field the same team as the OUA championships two weeks ago. There, the Blues women finished third, while the men were seventh overall.All eyes will be on 2019 OUA individual champion Lucia Stafford on Saturday afternoon. The fourth-year engineering major won her first career OUA title in 2019 and will look to be the second Varsity Blue to reach the top of the national podium in the past three years after Sasha Gollish claimed the 2017 gold medal.She will rely on fellow 2019 OUA all-star Katherine Lampard, as well as veterans Jazz Shukla, Christiana Agustin and Tanis Bolton to help the Blues lead the charge on Saturday.U of T’s men will look for another amazing performance from rookie Jack Stanley, who led the squad with a 25th place finish at the OUA championships.He will look to veterans Sam Kinahan and Craig Klomp to help lead the way, while fellow rookie Rohan Nowbotsing and third-year runner Cameron Cira will also be vying to improve upon their finishes at the OUA championships.For more information, scores and highlights on your favourite U of T athletes and teams, please visit www.varsityblues.ca.
