first_img Carl Jenkinson celebrates scoring for West Ham United 1 Carl Jenkinson is ready to challenge again for a first team place at Arsenal after finally returning to fitness.The right-back suffered cruciate ligament damage in a match against Manchester City, playing on loan for West Ham in February.But now he is back in Arsene Wenger’s first team plans having successfully made it through a comeback match at the end of last week.Jenkinson played an hour of the under-23 game against Southampton and now the Arsenal manager wants to see his man gain more match action.Wenger said: “Now it is down to getting a little bit more competition. He has been out for a very long time, but he’s available to compete again now.“Carl has been patent and resilient. He has a fantastic mentality and he has worked very hard to come back. He had the support of everybody here at the club and I think he has done extremely well.” The former Charlton man, 24, won his first and only England cap to date in 2012 not much more than a year after his switch from south to north London.last_img
